Smart Discount Rules for WooCommerce turns your pricing strategy into rules you can actually see. Build a discount once in a visual editor, set the conditions it fires on, decide when it runs, and let the engine handle the rest. No coupon codes to hand out, no snippets to paste into functions.php.
Whether you run one evergreen “spend $100, save 10%” offer or a calendar full of weekend flash sales, the aim is the same: make WooCommerce discounting something you configure, not something you code.

WooCommerce ships with coupons, and coupons are fine as long as your customer knows the code, types it correctly, and the offer never needs to depend on anything more than a cart total. The moment you want “10% off for wholesale customers, but only on Fridays, and not on items already marked down,” you are writing PHP.
Smart Discount Rules replaces that with a rule engine. Each rule is a set of conditions and a set of actions. Conditions decide when a rule applies; actions decide what it takes off. Rules have a priority order and a stacking mode, so you control exactly what happens when two of them match the same cart.
Discounts apply automatically as a negative cart fee, so there is nothing for your customer to type in at checkout.
🚀 Key Features
- Visual rule editor: build conditions and actions in the browser, no code required
- Percentage and fixed-amount discounts: applied to the whole cart, or only to products you choose
- Five cart conditions: cart subtotal, specific products, product categories, customer role, and total item quantity
- Comparison operators: greater than, less than, or equal to, plus the “or equal” variants. Not just a single minimum
- Full scheduling: start and end dates, specific weekdays, and a time-of-day window that can run past midnight
- Skip items already on sale: so a shopper is never discounted twice on the same product
- Priority and stacking control: additive, exclusive, or highest-first, set per rule
- Automatic application: discounts land in the cart as a fee, with no coupon code for the customer to remember
- Dashboard and analytics: total discount given, orders touched, usage count and savings for every rule
- Import and export as JSON: back rules up, or move them from staging to production
- Nothing added to your storefront: no scripts on your shop pages, so your page speed is untouched (Pro’s storefront badges and countdown timers add their own)
- Built for WooCommerce HPOS: fully compatible with High-Performance Order Storage
- Developer-friendly: REST API under
/wp-json/mtxsdr/v1/, plus documented action and filter hooks
✅ Free Version Features
The free version covers real discounting, not a demo:
✅ Visual rule editor with condition and action builders
✅ Percentage discounts, on the entire cart or on products you select
✅ Fixed-amount discounts, capped at the value of whatever they target
✅ Cart subtotal condition with full comparison operators
✅ Specific products in cart condition
✅ Product categories in cart condition
✅ Customer role condition, including guest shoppers
✅ Total cart item quantity condition
✅ Scheduling: date range, recurring weekdays, and overnight time windows
✅ Skip products already on sale
✅ Priority ordering and three stacking modes: additive, exclusive, highest-first
✅ Dashboard: totals across every rule, with quick actions
✅ Analytics: total discount given, orders with a discount, and top performing rules
✅ Rules list with filtering by all, active, or inactive
✅ JSON import and export of every rule
✅ Rule logs with configurable logging level
✅ Up to 5 active rules at a time. Create as many as you like, activate five
Dates are shown in your site’s date format and evaluated in your site’s timezone, so a rule that ends “Sunday” ends when your store’s Sunday ends.

📈 Why Smart Discount Rules
There is no shortage of WooCommerce discount plugins. Here is what actually separates this one:
- ⚡ Nothing on your storefront: discounts are worked out on the server and applied as a cart fee. This plugin puts no scripts on your shop pages at all. It only loads anything inside your WordPress admin.
- 🕒 Scheduling that understands your store: weekday recurrence and time-of-day windows, including windows that cross midnight, evaluated in your site’s own timezone rather than UTC.
- 🏷️ No double discounting: a switch on each discount to leave out products already on sale, so a clearance item doesn’t take a second cut.
- 🎚️ Real stacking control: priority order plus additive, exclusive, and highest-first modes, so you decide up front whether two matching rules combine or one stands alone.
- 🔍 Analytics that answer a question: usage count and total savings per rule, so you can see which promotion is actually earning its place.
- 🧩 An extension API, not a wall: documented hooks, filters, a REST API, and a JavaScript registry. Pro is built on the same public API you can build on.
- 🔄 HPOS compatible: fully tested with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage, the default since WooCommerce 8.0.

Privacy Policy
Smart Discount Rules for WooCommerce does not collect or track any store
visitor data, and loads no scripts on your storefront.
The plugin uses the Freemius SDK for optional,
opt-in usage analytics (admin-side only). On first activation you are
asked whether to share non-sensitive diagnostic data: WordPress and PHP
versions, plugin version, site URL, and admin email. You can skip this and
the plugin works identically either way. You can opt out at any time from
the Account page. Nothing is collected without your explicit consent.

-
🔌 Does this plugin require WooCommerce?
-
Yes. WooCommerce 7.0 or higher must be installed and active. The plugin declares WooCommerce as a required plugin, so WordPress will prompt you if it is missing.
-
🔢 How many rules can I create?
-
As many as you like. Up to 5 of them can be active at once; beyond that, new rules are saved but stay inactive until you disable another one.
Smart Discount Rules Pro removes the limit so every rule can be active. If Pro is later deactivated, or a licence lapses, the rules over the limit are switched off automatically rather than silently ignored, then switched back on if Pro returns. Rules you disabled yourself are never touched.
-
🧱 Can I stack multiple discount rules?
-
Yes. Each rule carries a stacking mode that says whether it is willing to combine with discounts already applied: additive always applies on top, exclusive applies only when nothing else has, and highest-first applies only when it beats every discount applied so far. Rules are evaluated in priority order, lowest number first.
-
⚡ Does it slow down my store?
-
No. Cart evaluations are cached per cart signature, the queries run against purpose-built tables with indexes, and the plugin loads no JavaScript at all on your storefront.
-
🏷️ Do my customers need a coupon code?
-
No. Matching discounts are applied automatically as a negative cart fee, visible in the cart and at checkout. Pro adds auto-generated coupon codes for cases where you do want a code.
-
🛍️ What happens to products that are already on sale?
-
That is up to you, per rule. Turn on “skip products already on sale” and items with a WooCommerce sale price are left out of the calculation, so nothing gets discounted twice.
-
⏰ Can I schedule a sale in advance?
-
Yes. Every rule takes a start and end date, specific days of the week, and a time-of-day window, including windows that run overnight such as 10 PM to 2 AM. Dates use your site’s date format and are evaluated in your site’s timezone.
-
🔄 Can I use this with other coupon plugins?
-
Yes, it can run alongside other coupon and pricing plugins, though we recommend testing your specific combination. Any two plugins adjusting cart totals can interact in ways neither one predicts.
-
⚙️ Does it work with WooCommerce HPOS?
-
Yes. The plugin is fully compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage, and order data is written correctly under both HPOS and legacy post storage.
-
💾 Can I export and import my rules?
-
Yes. Export every rule as a JSON file and import it on another site. Useful as a backup, for moving from staging to production, or for reusing a rule set across client stores.
-
🗑️ What happens to my data if I uninstall the plugin?
-
By default all your rules and logs are preserved, so reinstalling brings everything back. If you want a clean removal, enable Delete All Data on Uninstall in Settings > Advanced Settings before you delete the plugin.
-
🧩 Is there an API for developers?
-
Yes. There is a REST API under
/wp-json/mtxsdr/v1/for rules and settings, a set of documented action and filter hooks for custom conditions and discount types, and a JavaScript registry for adding your own admin screens. The Pro plugin is built entirely on that public API. -
🎁 How do I know it will work on my store before buying Pro?
-
Install the free plugin first. It is the same engine. Build a rule, put a matching product in your cart, and check the discount lands correctly on your own theme and checkout. Everything about how rules are evaluated and applied is identical in Pro; Pro adds more conditions, more discount types and the removal of the active-rule limit. If the free version behaves on your store, Pro will too.
-
🆓 Is the free version actually usable?
-
Yes. Five active rules, both discount types, five conditions, full scheduling, stacking control, analytics and JSON backup are all in the free plugin, with no licence key and no time limit.

1.1.0
- 🆕 Cart label per rule. Each discount now shows its own wording on the cart line instead of the plugin’s name, so a shopper sees “Member discount” rather than a generic label. Leave it empty and the rule name is used.
- ✅ Renamed to Smart Discount Rules for WooCommerce throughout the admin screens. Nothing you have configured changes.
- ✅ Fixed the database upgrade routine, which could not add new columns to an existing installation.
1.0.1
- ✅ Declared compatibility with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage. The plugin has always been HPOS safe, reading and writing orders through the CRUD layer, but WooCommerce listed it as uncertain until the declaration was added, and on some stores that blocked HPOS from being switched on.
- ✅ Declared compatibility with the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout blocks. Discounts are calculated on the server and applied as a cart fee, so they reach the blocks the same way they reach the classic cart.
