External Services

The plugin sends content to the AI provider you choose, and only when you ask it to: from the post editor meta box, Bulk Generate, Quick Generate, or a Search Insights “+ Add FAQ” suggestion. Nothing is sent on page load or in the background, and nothing is sent to WebTend.

What is sent: the text of the page (or the text you paste or fetch) plus the request settings (FAQ count, tone, model). Your site URL and personal data are not included.

Fetching a web address (Quick Generate)

If you choose “From URL” and press “Fetch Content”, your server requests the public web page address you enter (http or https only; private and local addresses are blocked) to read its text. That text is then sent to your chosen AI provider as described above.

How do I add FAQ schema markup to WordPress?: Generate or write your FAQs in the AI FAQ Generator meta box and save. The plugin outputs FAQPage schema markup (JSON-LD) for that page automatically, and you can check it with the Schema.org validator. To turn schema off for a specific post, use the wtaf_schema_enabled filter.
Do I need an AI API key?: Yes. The plugin uses your own API key (BYOK) from OpenAI, Google AI Studio, Anthropic or the DeepSeek Platform. The key is stored in your WordPress database and used only to call the provider from your server.
Which AI provider should I use?: Any of them works. The smaller, faster models — GPT-6 Luna, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, Claude Haiku and DeepSeek Flash — are a good starting point. The larger models can write richer answers but typically cost more per request. Use the Test button in Settings, and check each provider’s pricing page for current rates.
What if a provider retires or releases a model?: Open Settings, choose the provider’s tab, and type the new model’s exact ID into “Custom model ID (optional)”. It overrides the list. Clear the field to go back to the list. Find the ID in the provider’s documentation, then press Test.
Will the FAQs appear as rich results in Google?: No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on 7 May 2026, for all sites. The plugin still outputs valid FAQPage structured data, but it cannot make Google show expandable FAQ listings, and nothing here promises any ranking or traffic change.
What data does the plugin collect? Is it built with privacy in mind?: The plugin is built with privacy in mind, but no plugin can provide legal compliance on its own — you remain responsible for your site’s privacy practices. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses or visitor identifiers. Search Insights saves, in your own database, the text of searches that found no FAQ result, the page they were typed on, and the date; rows are deleted after 90 days and you can clear them at any time. Because visitors type that text freely, mention it in your privacy policy. Generating FAQs sends your page content to the AI provider you choose — please review its privacy policy.
Can I edit the generated FAQs?: Yes. They appear as editable fields in the meta box before you save.
How do I display FAQs, and turn off the search box?: Use [wtaf_faq], the AI FAQ Display block, or Auto-Append in Settings. Add search="no" to hide the search box, or search_placeholder="Find an answer…" to change its text.
Can I use custom post types or change the templates?: Yes. Add post type slugs with the wtaf_meta_box_screens filter, and copy faq-accordion.php or faq-list.php from templates/ into your theme to edit them.
How do I back up, migrate or import FAQs?: Go to AI FAQ Import / Export, download JSON (best for re-importing) or CSV (best for editing in a spreadsheet), and upload the file on the other site, choosing Replace or Skip for duplicates. To import FAQs you wrote yourself, use a CSV with the columns Post Title, Post URL, Question, Answer; rows with the same Post URL form one FAQ set.
