Sharraxaad
The plugin allows you to add 301 permanent or 302 temporary redirects without editing your .haccess file. There plugin uses wordpress standard functions and does not affect the site performance.
To setup, just activate the plugin and you will find the menu Redirects on your wordpress admin. Note that this is setup to non Admin users. If you are logged in as an administrator, the redirects will not work for you.

Do I need to edit the htaccess file?

No. You only need to choose the URLs and choose if its a permanent or temporary redirect.

Why it is not made for admin users?

As an admin, you might need to work on some pages that you want to hide from visitors. In this case, you can setup a temporary redirect to some other page while you keep working on that page as admin.
